“Caged” is a fusion of fashion and sculpture, a commentary on the systemic constraints imposed on women in society. Depicting a powerful Queen trapped and forgotten, surrounded by blackberry bramble. Forced to consume the fruit of her captivity, symbolizing how society’s structures both feed and wound women. The piece ex-lores the micro and macro ways women are confined into submission and gender roles. ‘Caged” invites reflection on how women are undeniably powerful, yet are obviously restrained.
